Assumptions & limits+
- Money figures use MAYA's illustrative planning rates — an indicative estimate, not a quotation. A site-verified BOQ follows a consultation.
- D²/162 is the standard engineering weight formula for TMT steel bars (density 7,850 kg/m³).
- Add 3–5% for laps, chairs and cutting wastage when ordering; bar sizes and spacing must follow the approved structural bar-bending schedule.
- Not a structural reinforcement design.
Questions people ask
Where does 162 come from?+
Weight = π/4 × D² × 7850 kg/m³, with D in metres; rearranged for D in mm it simplifies to D²/162.
Can I use this to decide my slab reinforcement?+
No. Bar sizes and spacing come from the structural design; this only weighs what the design specifies.
